There are also plenty of historic museums to choose from. You could even take a Segway tour through Cheyenne Cañon!

It’ doesn’t matter what time of year you visit, there is something for everyone at Rocky Mountain National Park. During the winter you can ski, snowshoe, and sled. During the spring, summer, and fall you can hike, camp, cycle, or climb the Longs Peak Keyhole. Or just plan a low-key day in nature enjoying the majestic views of the park. So much to do and just an hour and a half outside of Denver.

Head To The Georgetown Loop Railroad And Mining Park

Georgetown is a quaint little town 1 hour outside of the city. The historic architecture has a Victorian charm and dates back as early as the 1870s. Stroll the town and hit up the antique shops. The highlight of your day will be the train ride at the Georgetown Loop Railroad and Mining Park. View the mountain ranges in ways you simply can’t achieve by car or foot. You can even pan for gold!

Head To The Hot Springs In Glenwood Springs

If rest and relaxation are more your vibe, Glenwood Springs is home to the World’s Largest Hot Spring Pool. These healing mineral waters have been a local attraction since 1888. The drive is about 2.5 hours, so you may want to spend the night in one of the nearby hotels or lodges. The city rests between Vail and Aspen, so you can wander through a few nearby towns if you have time. If the kids come with, head to Glenwood Cavern’s Adventure Park—America’s only mountain-top theme park.

Drive To Boulder

About a 30-minute drive from downtown, there are lots of fun things to do in Boulder, Colorado. A perfect solo outing, family trip, or daytime date. Some of the top things to do include heading to the Fiske Planetarium, viewing the unique geologic formations at Settler’s Park or Flatirons, hiking to the waterfall in Eldorado Canyon, heading to any of the nearby parks, shopping at Pearl Street Mall, or taking a tour at Avery Brewing.
